Coinciding with the release of his decent DJ-Kicks mix, Hotflush boss Paul Rose will be in town this coming weekend for a special ‘All Night Long’ event organised by the Warm promotion team. Under his Scuba stage name, Paul has spent the last five years gradually rising dubstep’s pecking order and now stands one of the most closely watched figures in contemporary electronic music. Like many of the scene’s current patriarchs, the Londoner’s aspirations were formed attending the monthly FWD» nights at Plastic People, so it seems only fitting that the iconic Curtain Road basement is the setting for this 6 hour performance. Crowned label of the year by listeners of Giles Peterson’s Worldwide show on Radio 1, 2011 has seen Hotflush release its second label comp, entitled ‘Back And 4th’, in addition to a slew of well-thumbed twelves from Mount Kimble, Sigha, George Fitzgerald, Sepalcure, Joy Orbsion and Paul himself as both Scuba and his other alias, SCB. In the time that’s elapsed since the release of his second artist album last November, Paul’s productions have steered away from the limited confines of dubstep, with the focus shifting up a gear towards bass-driven tech-house. Whatever the tempo, expect Plastic People’s infamous sound system to be put through its paces during what’s certain to be a very popular event.
