LONDON EVENT PICK: Photek - Modus Operandi Set
Photek, who’s currently in contention to secure not only one of my tracks of the year (Fountain Head - streaming below), but also one of my comps of the year, will be performing a special Modus Operandi set next Wednesday at XOYO. Released in ‘97, Rupert Parkes‘ groundbreaking debut album (title track - streaming below) provided the blueprint for jungle’s evolution from the rave tents to the deeper, more refined drum & bass sound of the late-nineties, so for this reason it undoubtably remains one of the most important releases of its era. In association with the D’n’B institution Hospital Recordings, the LA-based Brit will be supported by High Contrast, Landslide and other names for the long-serving label’s roster. Conrad Holten
